Gator Gymnastics Team Defeats LSU

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The No. 5 University of Florida gymnastics team posted a 194.85-193.25 win over No. 15 Louisiana State Friday in the SunTrust Showcase in front of a Stephen C. O'Connell Center crowd of 4,352. The win evens UF's season record to 2-2, while the Tigers drop to 3-4.

Gator senior Kristen Guise of Coral Springs claimed three event titles Friday -- vault (9.975), uneven bars (9.875) and floor exercise (9.975). Her vault score matched the school-record she set last season at Louisiana State and her floor exercise mark of 9.975 is a collegiate-best and the second-best mark on the Gator All-Time floor list. The evening's all-around title was claimed by LSU's Kristy Savoie with a season-best total of 39.425. Tiger teammate Amy McClosky, the nation's top-ranked balance beam performer, won that event title with a score of 9.925.

The Gators return to action on Feb. 18 when they travel to Columbia, Mo., to compete in a quad meet against Missouri, Iowa State and Minnesota.
