Men's Golf Finishes Seventh in Las Vegas

The eighth-ranked University of Florida men's golf team finished in seventh place with a score of 876 (+12) after the final round of the Las Vegas Intercollegiate at the Rio Secco Golf Course Sunday.
The Gators shot a first round total of 297 (+9) and continued to improve in each round following that. In the second round the Gators shot a 292 (+4) concluded the tournament shooting a 287 (-1) in the final round.
Individually, freshman Camilo Villegas (Medellin, Colombia/The Columbus School) led the Gators with a fourth place finish. After shooting a 75 (+3) in the first round, he came back strong to shoot a second round total of 70 (-2) and a third round total of 67 (-5). Villegas finished with a three-round total of 212 (-4). Sophomore Bubba Dickerson (Hilliard, Fla/ West Nassau) also played well for the Gators shooting a 75 (+3) the final to finish with a three-day total of 217 (+1) and tie for 12th place. Junior Camilo Benedetti (Medellin, Colombia/Instituto Jorge Robledo) shot a third round 70 (-2) to finish tied for 23rd and a three round stroke total of 219 (+3). Sophomore Jordan Code (Tampa, Fla./Home Education Program) stepped into the playing five to finish tied for 56th with a three round total of 229 (+13) and senior Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla/Gainesville) finished 69th with a three round total of 232 (+16).
The UF golf team will return to the course March 24-25 at the Chris Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. at the Forest Heights Country Club.
