Women's Golf Tied for 2nd at Liz Murphey Classic

Sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) led the University of Florida women's golf team into a tie for second place after the first day of play at the 2002 Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia. The Gators shot a 13-over-par 301 and are four strokes off Georgia, which leads the tournament with a 297.
Dick shot a 73 to finish in a tie for third place to lead Florida. Junior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.) finished tied for sixth place with a first-round 74, followed by Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) in a tie for 10th with a 75. Freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) carded a 79 to finish tied for 37th, and freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) rounded out the scoring for the Gators with an 80 to tie for 47th place..
Florida tees off at 10:20 a.m. Saturday for round two of the event. The tournament continues through Sunday. Live scoring is available on www.golfstat.com.
