The University of Florida women's golf team is in third place after the first round of play at the Florida Women's Collegiate Golf Tournament hosted by the University of Miami. The Gators' first-round score of 305 is 12 strokes behind Florida State, which leads the tournament with a score of 293, followed by Florida Atlantic in second with a 304.
Junior Jeanne Cho (Boulogne, France) leads the Gators after round one with a two-over par 74 to tie for sixth, followed by junior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.), who carded a three-over par 75 to finish in a tie for eighth place. Other individual finishers for Florida were freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) in a tie for 11th with a 76, and sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) and freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) in a tie for 28th with scores of 80.
Florida Atlantic's Jessica Polus leads the individual scoring with a three-under par 69, followed by Miami's Camilla Hilland in second with a 70.
Code will tee off first for the Gators Saturday at 10:40 a.m., and the Gators will tee off until 11:12 a.m.
