Georgia Tech fired a final round 287 to win the Cleveland Golf/Gary Koch Intercollegiate by 15 strokes Tuesday afternoon at Old Memorial Golf Course.
The Yellow Jackets set a tournament record in shooting an 842 (-22) – one shot better than the 2001 Florida squad. Georgia Tech also ended the Gators' streak of three consecutive wins at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate.
Florida finished second at 857 (-7), while TCU moved past Arkansas on the final day to place third at 860 (-4).
Florida sophomore Matt Every (Daytona Beach, Fla.) earned medalist honors after shooting a six-under 66 on the final day to finish at 11-under for the tournament at 205. His mark set a new standard at the tournament and was two shots better than current teammate Camilo Villegas' (Medellin, Colombia) total of 207 in 2001.
"I had a couple puts fall in early and that got me off to a great start," said Every, who became the first Gator to win a tournament this season. "I think that when I play my best that I can beat anybody else and it's very special for me. It's a little bittersweet because we didn't win as a team, but we'll learn and come back strong."
Florida freshman Jessie Mudd (Louisville, Ky.) was two-over on his final round to finish at 215 (-1) and under par for the second consecutive tournament. He finished in a tie for 13th.
Villegas finished outside the top 20 fir the first time this season after a final round 78. He shot 219 (+3) for the tournament and finished in a tie for 23rd.
Sophomore James Vargas (Miami, Fla.) rebounded from a rough second round to post an even par 72 to finish at 222 (+6) in a tie for 35th place.
Making his first appearance of the season and playing as an individual, sophomore Ryan Cochran (Paducah, Ky.) capped the tournament with a final round 79 to finish at 222 (+6) in a tie for 35th.
Junior Duke Butler IV (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) closed out his first career appearance as a Gator with a 77 to finish at 224 (+8) in a tie for 42nd.
Florida returns to action at the Hooters Match Play Championship Nov. 7 at the Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
