Women's Golf Tied For Lead After First Round

Three Gator golfers are currently in the top 20 as the No. 8 University of Florida women's golf team is currently tied for the lead with top ranked Duke after shooting a seven-over-par 295 in the first round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. Ashley Leonard of East Carolina is currently the top individual after shooting a five-under-par 67.
Senior Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) led the Lady Gators and is currently tied for seventh place after shooting an even-par 72. Junior Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) shot a one-over-par 73 and is currently tied for 13th place. Freshman Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) also ranks in the top 20 golfers as she is tied for 18th place with a first round score of 74.
Senior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.) is tied for 29th place and sophomore Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) is tied for 36th after first round scores of 76 and 77, respectively.
After winning medallist honors last weekend in a match versus Augusta State, freshman Tarah McNaughton (Bradenton, Fla.) is playing as an individual and is currently tied for 83rd place with a score of 83.
Florida will continue to defend its 2002 Liz Murphey title Saturday morning, as the second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic will begin with tee times at 9 a.m.
