400 FR Team Takes 8th At Spring Nationals

Senior Sara McLarty (DeLand, Fla.) posted the third-fastest time in school history in the 400-meter individual medley to highlight another successful day for Florida swimmers at the ConocoPhillips U.S. Spring Nationals at the YMCA Aquatic and Family Center.
After swimming the top time in the preliminaries of the 400-meter individual medley (4:48.41), McLarty posted the third fastest time in school history in the finals to take second with a time of 4:44.59. The mark was also an Olympic Trials and NCAA automatic qualifying time.
Former Gator Jamie Reid took fourth in the B final of the 400-meter individual medley (4:56.92), while junior Katie McCann (Walpole, Mass.) swam a career best and NCAA provisional time of 4:55.59 to take third in the C final.
Earlier in the evening, sophomore Mary Uhle (Sankt Ingbert, Germany) finished fifth in the C final of the 200-meter freestyle with a provisional time of 2:04.20 after swimming a season best time of 2:04.17 in the prelims. McLarty finished eighth in the event with a provisional mark of 2:04.80.
The Florida A 400-meter freestyle relay team of Uhle, McCann, freshman Brittany Johnson (Winston Salem, N.C.) and McLarty took 16th with a time of 3:56.69.
On the men's side, the Florida A 400-meter freestyle relay team finished eighth with a mark of 3:31.96. Members of the team included junior Gabriel Mangabeira (Piratininga, Brazil), sophomore Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.), junior Adam Sioui (Ontario, Canada) and junior Kris Wiebeck (Tampa, Fla.).
Former Gator Olympian Bryan Kim shaved nearly a second off his prelim time to take eighth in the 400-meter individual medley (4:25.92), while former Gator All-American Eric Donnelly finished sixth in the B final with a mark of 4:32.72.
