The No. 18 University of Florida men's golf team carded a 14-over par second round score of 302 at the Sawgrass Country Club to close the second day of the 2005 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in fourth-place.
"Alabama had a nice round today and proved they could handle the wind," Head Coach Buddy Alexander said. "They sit atop the leaderboard, and despite our putting troubles today, we're not out of it. We'll work on that this afternoon and hopefully we'll get a few more to fall tomorrow."
Junior Matt Every (Daytona Beach, Fla.) once again led the Gators by firing a second round, one-over par score of 73. Every currently sits in third-place overall as he owns an even par total score of 144.

For the tournament, Cochran is five-over par with a two-round total of 149. By carding a four-over par score of 76, junior Brett Stegmaier (Madison, Conn.) will begin the final round tied with Cochran in 19th-place.

Playing as an individual, Duke Butler (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) had a challenging day as he fired a 13-over par score of 85. Currently in a tie for 68th-place, Butler has a 13-over par total score of 157.
The Gators enter the final round of play six strokes back of Alabama, who carded the team-best round of 291 today despite the windy conditions to move into the top spot with a 12-over par team total of 588.
"If we can play a good round and post some good numbers tomorrow, we can make it very tough on them," Alexander said.
The 2005 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship concludes tomorrow with the final round at the Sawgrass Country Club.
