Men's Golf in second place after day two of Columbia Invitational

The University of Florida men's golf team shot a 304 (+20) in the second round and sit in second place going into the final day of the Columbia Invitational. Junior Tim McKenney (Scottsdale, Ariz.) shot a three-over par 74 and is tied for second place.
“The course was much tougher today,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “It was windy and raining. We didn't have a much better score than yesterday but the conditions were tougher and we moved up a little bit on the leaderboard.”
McKenney bettered his first round score by one stroke and is three strokes off the lead going into the final round at seven-over par 149 for the tournament. Junior Tyson Alexander (Gainesville, Fla.) also shot three-over par 74 and is tied for 13th at 153 (+11).
Senior Will Strickler (Charlottesville, Va.) shot a 77 (+6) in the second round and is tied for 27th at 156 (+14) for the tournament. Fellow senior Toby Ragland (Jacksonville, Fla.) shot an eight-over par 79 and is tied for 47th at 161 (+19) heading into the final round.
Freshman Mu Hu (Shen Zhen, China) struggled on the second day shooting nine-over par 80, but his two-day total of 152 (+10) is good enough for a share of 10th place.
“We've got a chance,” said Coach Alexander. “We're in second place, and six strokes back from the lead. We've got to get four good scores up tomorrow and see what happens.”
The final round is scheduled to begin Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Final results will be posted on GatorZone.com.
