Four Lady Gators are among the top 15 individuals on the leaderboard as the fourth-ranked University of Florida women's golf team surged to first place with a three-stroke lead at the NCAA East Regional on Friday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
"We got off to a slow start, but they grinded it out," Florida head coach Jill Briles-Hinton said. "The conditions were more difficult today. The wind kicked up and the greens were a little harder and they dried out a bit. We just have to play one shot at a time tomorrow, stay mentally tough and add up the scores at the end."
The Lady Gators carded the low round of the day with a 7-over 295 and sit at 9-over 585 through 36 holes. Top-ranked Duke, the three-time defending NCAA champion, fell to second place following a second-round 303 (+15). The Blue Devils are three shots back of Florida at 12-over 588. South Carolina remained in third place at 18-over 594 overall.
