W. Golf In Eighth Place At Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic

The University of Florida women's golf team is currently tied for eighth place after the first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. The Lady Gators finished day one with a 309 (+21) on the par-72, 6,009-yard Cougar Point Golf Course.
The Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic is the largest women's collegiate golf event of the year, featuring over 200 golfers from 43 different teams. The squads are teeing off from two different courses, Oak Point and Cougar Point.
The Lady Gators were led by sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.), who finished the first round tied for fifth place with a one-over-par 73. Yadloczky double-bogeyed the third hole, but rallied back to collect 12 pars, 2 birdies and one bogey on the remaining 15 holes.
Freshman Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) finished just four strokes behind Yadloczky with a five-over 77, placing her in a tie for 35th after day one. Redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) carded a career-best 79 (+7), to land her in a tie for 64th place.
Freshman Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) entered the back nine at three-over but struggled on the back nine, collecting two bogeys and a triple bogey to go with her six pars. Jensen finished the first round in a tie for 84th place with an 80 (+8). Redshirt sophomore Nicole Schachner (Libertyville, Ill.) finished the day with an 84 (+12), good for a tie for 139th place in her first tournament of the season.
Miami (Fla.) and East Tennessee (300) finished Sunday's competition 12-over and hold a three-stroke lead over Oral Roberts (303). Ole Miss (305) and UCF (306) round out the top five teams on the leaderboard.
The Lady Gators tee off beginning at 11:20 a.m. for the second round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Monday.
