
UF Moves Up the Leaderboard on Second Day of SEC Championship

Sitting in last place after the first round of the 2013 SEC Championship, the University of Florida men's golf team moved up three positions and is in 11th place after two rounds at the Sea Island Golf Club. The team recorded a 289 (+9) for the second round of competition, a 12-stroke improvement from the previous day.
Senior Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), the team's captain, continues to pace the Gators at the par-72, 6,898 yard course. McCumber recorded three birdies against one bogey to complete his round in 68 strokes (-2), matching his lowest round of the season, on Saturday, April 20. The Ponte Vedra, Fla. native closed well, registering birdies on two of his final three holes. He is even-par for the tournament and is in a tie for eighth place.
Sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.) was one-over par for the second day of play. For the event, Tomlinson is eight-over, making him the team's second-lowest scorer, and is tied for 39th place.
Classmate Eric Banks (Truro, Canada) and freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.) each recorded a 75 (+5) for the second round. Banks is 16-over par through two rounds, while Crouch is 13-over.
Senior T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) was the final Gator to compete. Vogel tallied birdies on two of his final three holes to bring his second-round score to 76 (+6). The senior is 10-over par through the first two rounds of play.
“We will do the best we can tomorrow and start getting prepared for the NCAA Regionals in a few weeks,” head coach Buddy Alexander stated.
The 2013 SEC Men's Golf Championship will conclude tomorrow with the third and final round. Play is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. Banks will be the first golfer from Florida to tee off. He will begin his round at 8:50 a.m. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
