Wednesday, April 20, 2016 | General, Otis Hawkins Center
Seven sports scored 990 or better out of a possible 1,000.
The University of Florida posted outstanding Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores again this year, with all sports achieving better than 960 for the second straight year.
Men's basketball and women's tennis both scored a perfect 1,000 and were recognized by the NCAA last week for being in the top 10 percent in their sport. Five additional sports – softball, women's swimming and diving, men's cross country, women's golf and soccer – all scored 990 or better.
A 997 from Florida's softball team tied for the SEC's best score in the sport, while football's 979 tied for third-best in the conference.
"I'm incredibly proud of our teams for consistently demonstrating the desire and ability to excel in their studies as well as their sports," director of athletics Jeremy Foley said. "It's a testament to the high caliber of students who compete for the Gators and represent our university in a first-class manner."
The current APR scores are compiled from the academic years 2011-12 through 2014-15 and provide a look at each team's academic performance, accounting for eligibility, retention and graduation.
