Women’s Golf Climbs Leaderboard on Day Two of NCAA Regional

Baton Rouge, La. – Led by freshman Sam Wagner's second-round -3 (69) on Friday, the University of Florida women's golf team moved up a spot into third place at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Championship. The Gators recorded a 1-under 287 in Round 2 to total +4 (580), putting them in contention to be one of six teams from the region advancing to the NCAA Championship.
Junior Karolina Vlckova carded a -1 (71) on Friday to move up into a tie for 11th. She and Wagner both used a bogey-free front nine on their way to becoming the only Gators to shoot under par in the second round.
Freshman Taylor Tomlinson posted an even-par 72, which was good enough to move her into a tie for 25th place individually. With a total of +2 (146), Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Year Maria Torres will enter the final round tied for 16th place.
South Carolina claimed the lead and broke the University Club Golf Club's record for lowest round since the course was renovated in 2010 with a -11 (277). The previous low team round was set in Round 1 by the University of Washington. The individual leader of the tournament is South Carolina's Katelyn Dambaugh, who carded a 6-under 66 on Friday to total -8 (136).
