Gators Take a Commanding Lead After First Two Rounds at Briar’s Creek Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The Gators women's golf team is atop the leaderboard following the first two rounds of the Briar's Creek Invitational. Florida posted a 13-under (563) on Monday, finishing with a 10-stroke lead over the 18-team field.
The Orange & Blue carded an 11-under (277) in Monday's first round, which ties the lowest team score in program history from the 2016 NCAA Regional.
Two Gators sit inside the top-five on the individual leaderboard. Both Maria Torres and Kelly Grassel stand in a tie for third place at four-under (140).Torres tied her collegiate-best round with a six-under (66) in the first round, which she set last weekend in the final round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
Meanwhile, Karolina Vlckova sits inside the top-15, tied for 11th place at two-under (142).
UF enters Tuesday's final round looking to win the Briar's Creek Invitational for the third year in a row.

"Positive day today. A lot of great execution, but also really impressed with the fight we showed as the wind began to blow and the golf course played more difficult throughout the afternoon. The course was really score-able in the morning and I'm glad we were able to take advantage. In the afternoon, I saw a little more second guessing with the swirling wind but overall a lot of solid management. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, to see how the course plays and how we manage our selves and our emotions."
