Baggarly and Esborn make Florida debuts
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Freshman Addie Baggarly and redshirt freshman Elin Esborn made their debuts for the Gators Monday.
The pairing both finished their first tournament day in orange and blue inside of the top 20 on the leaderboard.
Esborn, who was as high as T3 at three-under-par, finished one-under-par to sit T5 after 36-holes. Her second round 70 was the third lowest score carded in round two of the tournament
Baggarly finished the first 36-holes at the Ocean Course Invitational T19 at two-over-par.
Through two rounds, the Gators sit tied for sixth in the event finishing with a 593 total right ahead of SEC rivals Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
Coach's Take:
"We will take a lot away from today, some good stuff and lots to learn and work on. We had some solid stretches of golf early and finished strong in the afternoon. We had to count some big numbers today that hurt us overall in the team standings. I was really proud of our freshman today, Addie and Elin. They carried us and I thought showed a lot of poise playing in their first college event. The leaderboard is tight and there is definitely an opportunity to make a move on this golf course. A few minor improvements can go a long way tomorrow and we are determined to finish strong." -Coach Emily Glaser
