Gators Close out Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge
Tuesday, February 5, 2019 | Women's Golf
Palos Verdes, Calif. – The Florida Gators women's golf team finished the Northrop Gumman Regional Challenge in 13th, after staying middle of the pack for all three days.
Palos Verdes Golf Club was the real winner of the tournament, as the teams had to get through a weather-delayed opening day and no team shot below par over the course of the event. There were also no players under par in the final round.
Gators sophomore Addie Baggarly made the biggest improvement, moving up 19 spots on the final day and the only Gator to shoot on-par for any round of the whole tournament. Sophomore Elin Esborn had a two-over second round but that was as good as it got for Florida.
Coach's Take
"Obviously a disappointing week and not what we had envisioned. You could analyze it a number of ways but for me it really boils down to work and preparation, mentally and physically we need to be more ready for battle. We haven't had a ton of adversity this year. It's a skill we need to build and this will help teach us the lessons that only experience can give you. If we use this experience the right way we will be a better team." - Head Coach Emily Bastel Glaser
On Baggarly's improvement
"I'm happy for Addie, even par in the last round is solid. Her attitude and determination was the best I've seen it in competition. That was a big round from her and under really tough conditions." - Coach Glaser
