Running back Jadan Baugh collected second team status as the FBS leader in rushing touchdowns (12), total touchdowns (12) and total points scored (72).
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Associated Press released its Midseason All-Americans on Thursday afternoon, tabbing standout Florida Gators running back Jadan Baugh to its second team.
As the FBS leader in rushing touchdowns (12), total touchdowns (12) and total points scored (72), Baugh has rushed for 672 yards on 110 carries (6.1 YPC, 112.0 YPG) on top of seven receptions for 46 yards this season for a total of 718 scrimmage yards. The Atlanta, Ga. native paces the SEC and sits top-six in the FBS in PFF rushing grade (89.8), breakaway percentage (50.6), PFF offensive grade among running backs (87.0), PFF grade for HandsFumble (88.3), first downs (34) and missed tackles forced (36).
Holding status as the only FBS running back with 10-plus rushing touchdowns and over 600 rushing yards, Baugh has rushed for over 135 yards and multiple touchdowns in four games this season. He is also the only FBS running back to rush for multiple touchdowns in four different contests. Entering Florida's Week 7 matchup at Texas, Baugh has recorded 518-consecutive touches and 459-straight rushes without a fumble.
As Florida's first returning 1,000-yard rusher since 1992, Baugh is on pace for 1,456 rush yards and 26 rushing touchdowns in a 13-game season – the latter of which would break Tim Tebow's school record (23) by three and fall just shy of Derrick Henry's 2015 SEC record set in 15 games (28). The third-year ballcarrier must eclipse 1,600 rush yards to break the UF single-season rushing record set by Emmitt Smith in 1989 (1,599).
Baugh owns two more rushing touchdowns through six games than any of the last three Heisman Trophy-winning running backs (Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram, Reggie Bush) and more rushing yards than Ingram or Henry.
Baugh and the Gators travel to Austin, Tex. to take on the No. 7-ranked Longhorns on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET with television coverage on ABC.
