U.S. Wins Pan American Championship Team Title; Incoming Gator Simone Rose Advances to Event Finals
Wednesday, June 17, 2026 | Gymnastics
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — The U.S. women's gymnastics team, which includes incoming Florida freshman Simone Rose, won the team title Wednesday at the Pan American Championships at Carioca Arena 1 in Parque Olímpico.
The United States posted a winning score of 161.628 in the opening subdivision of competition, a mark that held through the day's remaining subdivisions. The victory secured the U.S. a berth in the 2026 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and the 2027 Pan American Games.
Brazil finished second, followed by Canada, Argentina and Mexico. Those nations also earned team berths to the 2026 World Championships.
The U.S. qualified the maximum two gymnasts for each apparatus final. Rose advanced to Sunday's vault, uneven bars and balance beam finals.
Rose completed a U.S. sweep of the top three all-around spots in Wednesday's competition. However, because each country is limited to two competitors per event final, she will not compete in Friday's all-around final.
