Austin, Diggs Represent Gators on Day Two of USATF Outdoor Championships

Pjai Austin and Talitha Diggs fell just short of their respective finals, both placing 12th.
NEW YORK – A pair of Florida alumni took the track at Icahn Stadium in New York for day two of competition at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, with both falling just short of advancing in the men's 100-meter and women's 400-meter dashes.
Competing in the semifinal round of the 100 meters, Pjai Austin improved on his time of 10.22 from Thursday afternoon, racing to a fifth-place finish in heat three behind a time of 10.10 (+2.1), falling just short of the final round. Cumulatively, Austin placed 12th overall, missing finals by only 0.04.
Talitha Diggs also lined up inside Icahn Stadium on Friday for the opening round of the women's 400-meter dash. Racing out of heat one, Diggs claimed fourth behind an effort of 52.63, also narrowly missing finals by placing 12th overall.
The Orange & Blue will be back in action Saturday at 5:40 p.m. ET as freshman Claire Stegall looks to add to her summer accolades in the women's 1500 meters final.
