Carter's Corner: Thumbs up to Slaughter for Prank on Moore

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Former Gators All-American center Jake Slaughter is engaged in a battle to start at left guard for the Los Angeles Chargers as a rookie, drawing praise from head coach Jim Harbaugh this week for his improvement.
"His confidence, like he's getting it,'' Harbaugh told reporters. "That's super encouraging."
Meanwhile, in Slaughter's old stomping grounds, Georgia Tech transfer Harrison Moore is stating his case to be Slaughter's replacement at UF (more on that later on FloridaGators.com).

The first time Moore met Slaughter in the spring, the conversation soon turned toward hunting and fishing and the great outdoors.
"He's a country boy, he loves fishing, I love fishing, so he was telling me all the good spots to go fishing,'' said Moore, who is from Southlake, Texas.
Slaughter, who grew up in the small Marion County community of Sparr about 45 minutes from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is an avid fisherman and hunter, with experience trapping the kind of gators that bite.
Moore said he's not ready to embrace the Florida lifestyle that much, but he shared a funny story that shows off Slaughter's sense of humor.
Moore and teammate Eagan Boyer decided to check out one of Slaughter's suggested fishing spots in Yankeetown earlier this summer. They got up early, drove to the small Gulf Coast town in Levy County, and arrived at a bait shop at 5:30 in the morning.
Unbeknownst to them, Slaughter was already there and sent his dad, Jack Slaughter, over to pull a fast one on Moore and Boyer.
"His dad came up to me … and he was like, 'Oh my gosh, Harrison Moore and Eagan Boyer, I'm such a huge Florida Gators fan, it's so great to meet y'all,' " Moore said. "We were just like, what the … and then we see Jake in the passenger seat of the car just dying laughing. So that was funny, but yeah, we caught some good fish that morning."
Props to Slaughter. He is an All-American prankster, too.
