Danie Ferris Heads to Italy for Taranto Mediterranean Games

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida rising senior gymnast Danie Ferris is taking her talents to the international stage.
Ferris will make her elite gymnastics debut later this month at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, where she will represent Morocco, her mother's home country.
The competition marks a major new chapter for Ferris. A vault and floor exercise competitor for the Gators, Ferris trained all-around during her time at Florida but has not competed all four events since beginning her collegiate career. That changes in Italy, where she is set to return to all-around competition while making her first appearance at the elite level.
Ferris brings plenty of power to the international stage. The vault All-American owns a collegiate perfect 10.0 on the event and has posted a career-best 9.925 on floor exercise three times.
Competition begins Aug. 30 at Grattaglie Sports Hall.

Sept. 1 –All-Around Final
Sept. 2 –Apparatus Finals
Morning: Vault, Uneven Bars
Evening: Balance Beam, Floor Exercise
The Mediterranean Games give Ferris the opportunity to add another dimension to an already accomplished collegiate career - stepping beyond NCAA competition, returning to the all-around and representing Morocco on the international stage.
