Woods Named Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week for Week Three

Woods tallied career highs with 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks against Auburn
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jayden Woods has been named this week's Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following his performance in the Gators' 44-39 win over Auburn, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Tuesday.
A sophomore JACK from Shawnee, Kansas, Woods leads the team with a career high 3.5 tackles for loss, and co-led the team with six tackles (five solo) and a career-high 2.5 sacks against Auburn while also registering one QB hurry.
Woods has started the first three games for the Gators this season and leads the team with four tackles for loss for 13 yards and three sacks for 12 yards and tallying 15 total tackles (10 solo), good for second on the team, and one QB hurry.
About the Chuck Bednarik Award
The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1994 and is named in honor of Chuck "Concrete Charlie" Bednarik who was an All-American player at the University of Pennsylvania and later a multiple year All Pro linebacker and center for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame and was the last NFL player to be a full-time player on both offense and defense.
