Francisco named SEC Golfer of the Week

Behind her third career victory Paula Francisco earned the weekly award for Florida's second consecutive.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Behind her third career victory, Florida women's golfer Paula Francisco was named the SEC Golfer of the Week. This is the No. 7 Gators second consecutive weekly award winner, joining Jessica Guiser who earned the accolade after medalist honors in the season opener.
Francisco went wire-to-wire for her victory at the Mason Rudolph Championship, adding to her wins at the SEC Championship and Gators Invitational titles, both of which were record-setting performances. Her Gators Invitational victory set the 54-hole scoring record, while her SEC Championship performance produced the second-lowest tournament score in program history.
With the victory, Francisco becomes the 14th Gator with three or more career wins. She finished the 54-hole tournament at 207 (-6) to win by two strokes.
Through two tournaments this season, Florida has won and finished runner-up while having held both the team and individual leads in five of its six rounds this season. The season opener sweep was the first time since 2018, which also came at the Cougar Classic.
UF's final two fall tournaments will be played in October, starting first at The Ally (Oct. 5-7) at Old Waverly Golf Club where Florida has won three straight team titles. The fall finale is at the Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 16-18) where the Gators swept the team and individual titles in 2023.
