Returning to action in 477 days, Jessica Guiser collected her second collegiate victory as Florida won the Cougar Classic by ten shots.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 7 Florida women's golf team couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2026-27 season, sweeping the Cougar Classic on Tuesday. Jessica Guiser claimed the individual title, the second of her collegiate career, in her first competition in more than 477 days.
After surging into the lead in the second round, Florida held steady in the final round with a 7-under 281 to secure a 10-shot victory. The Gators finished at 16-under for the tournament, posting an under-par score in all three rounds. Florida's 54-hole total of 836 is tied for the fourth-lowest in program history and is the best score in program history at the Cougar Classic.
The victory is Florida's fourth all-time at the event and first since 2018, which was also the last time the Gators swept their season opener. Across the last three seasons, UF has won 11 out of 19 regular season team tournament titles for a winning percentage of 58 percent.
Guiser's season debut marked her first appearance since the 2025 NCAA Championships. The medalist honor adds to her collegiate victory at the 2025 Gators Invitational. The Hartland, Wis., native carded three consecutive under-par rounds for a 54-hole score of 207 (-6), one stroke off her career low.
She set a new career-low in the final round with a 67 (-4), adding a pair of 70s (-1) in round one and three. Guiser led the field in par-4 scoring with a 3.85 average and tied for the field lead with 14 birdies.
One shot behind Guiser was Katelyn Huber, who finished tied for second at 5-under to record the best finish of her career. The Gainesville native tied her career-low with a 67 (-4) in the final round and made just four bogeys across 54 holes, the fewest in the field, while recording 41 pars and nine birdies. In 13 career tournaments, Huber has recorded seven top-10 finishes.
The third Gator to finish under par in the final round was Addison Klonowski, who carded a 69 (-2). She climbed 17 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 30th alongside Paula Francisco. Two shots ahead, Elaine Widjaja posted a final-round 71 (E) to finish tied for 22nd.
Florida returns to action at the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 18-20, at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
