Gator Gymnasts Win Dodge Senior Night

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 11 University of Florida gymnastics team claimed the Dodge Senior Night meet title Friday with a 195.725-192.10 win over Missouri in front of a Stephen C. O'Connell Center crowd of 2,086. The win ups Florida's record to 10-8, while Missouri drops to 9-12.
Florida sophomore Betsy Hamm, performing in only her third all-around of the season, claimed the meet's title with a season-best 39.30, while teammate Chrissy Van Fleet of Orlando was second at 38.95. Hamm used collegiate-best marks to claim two other event titles Friday – taking the uneven bars crown with a 9.925 and matching her career-best beam mark with a 9.90 winning mark. UF freshman Lisa Geckle, performing a Yurchenko half twist off, layout front vault (valued at 10.0) for the first time of her Gator career, took the event title with a collegiate-best mark of 9.85. Freshman Hilary Thompson and Van Fleet completed the UF sweep of event titles Friday by sharing the Dodge Senior Night floor exercise title at 9.90.
Next up, the Gators travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 19th Annual Southeastern Conference Championship on Saturday, March 27 at 8 p.m. (ET).
