Lady Gators Move to Sixth at Mercedes-Benz

The University of Florida Lady Gator golf team finished round two of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in sixth place after shooting a two-round 604 (311-293). Saturday's round of 293 was the lowest team score of the day.
"They did great. It was the low round of the day by six shots," said Head Coach Jill Briles-Hinton. "They didn't pout themselves in a great position after the first day, but the move they made today show maturity and the ability of this team to regroup and refocus. This is a very competitive golf team, and we're going to tee it up tomorrow and see what happens."
Individually, Junior Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) leads the Lady Gators with a 151 (78-73) and is tied for 20th going into Sunday's final round. Freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) improved upon her first day's score by 12 strokes, shooting a two-day total of 152 (82-70) for a tie for 24th place. Also tied for 24th is junior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.). Sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) is tied for 35th with a 154 (79-75), while freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) is also tied for 35th with a 154 (77-77).
Code's 70 is the lowest round this season for a Lady Gator and equals the low round set in the 2000-01 season (Brittany Straza at the SEC Championships).
Georgia pulled ahead of Duke after Saturday's round and leads the Blue Devils by one stroke with a 594 (294-300).
The Lady Gators tee off at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start for the final round of the tournament.
