Men's Golf Wins the UNF Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

The Gators shot a first round total of 284 (-4). The second round brought more of the same as they also shot a 284 (-4). The UF team won the 15 team tournament with a third round score of 281 (-7) for a three round total of 849 (-15). Second place Augusta State finished in second place by one stroke.
Individually, sophomore Bubba Dickerson (Hilliard, Fla/ West Nassau) led the Gators with a three-round total of 209 (-7) to finish in a tie for second. Junior Camilo Benedetti (Medellin, Colombia/Instituto Jorge Robledo) contiued his stellar play with a fourth place finish with a three round total of 210 (-6). Freshman Camilo Villegas (Medellin, Colombia/The Columbus School) ended the tournament with a 69 (-3) to total 214 strokes and a 13th finish. Also playing well for the Gators was senior Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla/Gainesville) who finished in a tie for 17th place for a total of 216 (E) and junior Ben Banks (England, UK/King Edwards School) shot a three round total of 228 (+12) to finish tied for 54th.
The UF golf team will take some time off before they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to take part in the Las Vegas Intercollegiate March 9-11 hosted by UNLV at the Desert Inn Country Club.
