Lady Gator Golf in First at Dodge ACC/SEC Shootout

The No. 29 Lady Gator golf team turned in a 294 Friday to lead the Dodge ACC/SEC Shootout in Sandestin, Fla. after one round of play.
Florida leads the 11-team field after carding a 294 and is followed by fellow SEC member Alabama at 298.
"The team played well," said Head Coach Jill Briles-Hinton. "They played like they're capable, and I'm very proud. We're going to continue to take it one stroke at a time, stay focused and add up the scores at the end."
Freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) leads the team and is tied for second with an even-par 71. Freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) is fourth with a one-over 72. Junior Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) carded a 75 to tie for 12th, while sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) shot a 76 to tie for 14th. Additionally, Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.) shot a 78 to round out the team scoring, while Kim Best (Avon Park, Fla.), who is competing as an individual, shot an 85 to tie for 50th after the first round.
The Lady Gators tee off Saturday at approximately 10:40 a.m. for the second round of the tournament.
