Lady Gators Win Dodge ACC/SEC Shootout

The Florida Lady Gator golf team shot a 294 in the final round Sunday to win the 2001 Dodge ACC/SEC Shootout in Sandestin, Fla. For the second consecutive year, the Southeastern Conference won the conference portion of the championship.
"The whole week was definitely a team effort," said Head Coach Jill Briles-Hinton. "Everyone contributed and played a vital role. We hope this is the first of many victories to come."
Freshman Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) led the Gators, shooting a three-round 222 (72-78-72) to finish in fifth place. Sophomore Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.) was close behind, finishing tied for seventh with a 76-73-75--224. Freshman Andrea Vander Lende (Longwood, Fla.) shot a 225 (71-79-75) to tie for 11th place. Junior Jeanne Cho (Bradenton, Fla.) tied for 14th with a 227 (75-74-78), and junior Brittany Straza (Ft. Myers, Fla.) closed out the team scoring with a 229 (78-79-72).
Senior Kim Best (Avon Park, Fla.) shot a three-round 257 (85-89-83) while competing in then tournament as an individual.
The Lady Gators next travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the 2001 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Tennessee.
