Hooters Collegiate Match Play
W. Golf Eliminated from Match Play Championship

Despite wins from sophomores Tarah McNaughton and Camila Gonzalez, the University of Florida women's golf team was eliminated from the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship at the Barefoot Resort.
McNaughton (Bradenton, Fla.) had Florida's only win in the second round as she defeated Purdue's Caroline Haas 4 and 3. Junior Whitney Code (Tampa, Fla.) tied with Ella Asbun of Purdue. No. 16 seed Purdue outscored the Lady Gators 3-1-1.
Florida lost in the first round Sunday morning to No. 9 seed Ohio State, who defeated the Lady Gators 4-1. Gonzalez (Bucaramanga, Colombia) had Florida's only win in the first round as she defeated OSU's Lindsay Knowlton 3 and 2.
UF has finished its fall portion of the schedule, which included three consecutive top-four tournament finishes.
The Lady Gators will begin their spring schedule Feb. 9-11, 2004 at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
