The No. 12/13 University of Florida Lady Gator golf team continued to improve at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic as UF finished in eighth place with a score of 918 (310-305-303).
"We're making progress," Florida head coach Jill Briles-Hinton said. "Our scores improved each day. We're getting better and better. We're looking forward to playing in the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational."
Duke remains undefeated this season, as the Blue Devils took the top spot with a score of 862. Georgia came in second with an 885, followed by Oklahoma (888), Southern California (893) and Tulsa (896) to round out the top five.
Leading the way for the Lady Gators was senior Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla.), who finished tied for 28th with a score of 227 (76-74-77). Sophomore Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) was close behind as she carded a 229 (76-75-78) to tie for 35th.
The tournament featured 10 of the top 25 teams in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, including No. 1 Duke, No. 5 Auburn, No. 7 Georgia, No. 12 USC, No. 13 Florida, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 16 Tulane, No. 17 Tulsa, No. 18 Texas and No. 21 Wake Forest.
Florida's next tournament is the 32nd Annual SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational March 7-9, 2004 in Gainesville, Fla.
