W-Golf In Third After 36 Holes At BYU Dixie Classic

The No. 24 University of Florida women's golf team had a strong start to the BYU Dixie Classic, finishing the first day of competition in third place. The Lady Gators notched team score of 300 and 312 in the 36-hole outing and head into the final round with a total score of 612 (+36).
Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) led the squad in both rounds, carding a one-over 74 and three-over 75, in the first and second rounds respectively. Watts is currently tied for seventh. The freshman had a tough start to her first 18 holes, making a triple bogey on the ninth hole and a bogey on the tenth, but responded well, notching four birdies in her final eight holes. Her momentum carried through to the second round of the day, making birdies on her first two holes. She entered the turn at one-over and carded five consecutive pars to finish at three-over.
Sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) currently owns sole custody of 13th place after carding a 36-hole score of 152 (+8). Yadloczky added six strokes to her first round score, scoring a one-over 73 in her first 18 holes and a 79 (+7) in her second. Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) had a strong start to the day, carding a career-best 74 (+2) in her first 18 holes. The redshirt sophomore was two-over following her first nine holes and collected two birdies, two bogeys and seven pars to maintain her score. She followed up her first round with an 89 (+17) and is currently tied for 47th.
Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) improved her second round score by four strokes after carding an 80 (+8) and 76 (+4) on Monday. After collecting a triple bogey, two double bogeys and a bogey in her first 18 holes, the freshman battled back to claim the second-best score in the second round among her teammates. She was even par through her first seven holes, before adding three strokes to her total with a triple bogey on hole nine. Despite one additional bogey, Jensen played consistently, carding 16 pars in round two.
Redshirt sophomore Nicole Schachner (Libertyville, Ill.) is currently in a tie for 40th place with a 36-hole score of 161 (79-82, +17). Overall, she collected one birdie, 22 pars, nine bogeys, three double bogeys and one triple bogey.
Denver got out to an early lead and continued to extend their lead as they currently hold a 28-stroke advantage over second place Colorado State. The Pioneers own a two-round total score of 579 (+3) and all five of their golfers are currently in the individual top-five.
