W. Golf Tied For Ninth After 18 At SEC Championship

After the first round of the 2010 SEC Championship, freshman Mia Piccio (Bacolod City, Philippines) leads the Gators in a tie for 29th at the par 71, 6,057 yard NorthRiver Yacht Club. The Florida women combined to tie for ninth place following day one of competition Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
“It was a bit of a frustrating day,” said head coach Jan Dowling. “We would have some momentum going and then it would be halted by three put here and there or a big number here and there. Overall as a team I don't think we caught any momentum. However, tomorrow is moving day and we are one good round from being right in the mix. We worked on our short game this afternoon and are looking forward to getting out there again tomorrow.”
After teeing off from hole 10, Piccio began her post-season debut by entering the turn at three-over. She carded a birdie on 12 and a bogey on 14 before making a triple bogey on 17. The freshman rebounded by shooting one-under par in her final nine holes with four birdies and three bogeys. She finished her first round with a two-over 73.
Junior Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.), sophomore Marika Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Isabelle Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) shot identical scores of 75 (+4) on Friday.
Both Yadloczky and Marika entered the turn at two-over and matched that with a two-over on the back nine. Marika was two-under through her first four holes, but tallied double bogeys on 15 and 18. Isabelle was one-over through nine holes, but tallied three bogeys on the back nine. The trio of Gators is tied for 39th place.
Sophomore Evan Jensen (Bellaire, Fla.) will begin second-round play in a deadlock for 44h place after shooting a five-over 76 n the opening round.
Arkansas and Georgia are tied for the team lead after carding a 280 (-4) on Friday. LSU, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss all shot a team score of 284 (E) and are tied for third.
