Men's Golf Tied for Eighth Place After One Round at Isleworth

After one round of play, the University of Florida men's golf team is tied for eighth place with Texas Christian University at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on October 21 in Windermere, Fla. The team shot a 297 (+9) for the opening round at the par-72, 7,544 yard course.

The top-ranked team in the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll, California, currently leads the field after shooting a 284 (-4) as a team. Golden Bears sophomore Michael Kim is on top of the individual leaderboard after firing a 67 (-5).

“When you have really good teams in the field, you have to play really well,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “We did not play really well today. We can do a little bit better.”

Seniors Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) and sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.) all shot a 74 (+2). The three are currently tied for 22nd place after the first round of play.

Senior Tommy Mou (Bradenton, Fla.), in his second event of the season, registered a 75 (+3) for the opening round. After completing the first nine holes at four-over par, Mou rallied and was one-under par for the final nine holes.

Completing the UF lineup was freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.), finishing the first round in 78 strokes (+6).

“I think we will be fine,” Alexander said. “We will try to bounce back tomorrow.”

The second round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational will begin at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.
