Gators Tie for Third at Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

The Florida men's golf team saw success today as they came away with a shared spot for third at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate.
Junior J.D. Tomlinson led the way for the Gators, finishing in the top-five individually. Tomlinson, who had a stellar round yesterday, fed off of that momentum and propelled himself to a career-best finish (T3) and a new low tournament score of 210 after shooting rounds of 73-68-69 and finishing the event six-under.
Freshman Victor Tarnstrom matched his six birdies from yesterday's second round, to grant him his first under-par finish of the year at one-under, tied for 12th place.
Buddy's Bite: “Today was pretty solid and this was the toughest course. There were different locations because they backed a couple of tees up. Overall, this week was more positive than negative. We have to turn our poor rounds into mediocre rounds so we can stay in the golf tournament a little better. But the positives outweigh the negatives. J.D. had a career-best finish so that's good. He struggled a little this summer and at the end of last year. It's nice to see him figure it out again. Victor is a freshman still and has some things to clean up but he looks like a player.”

Up Next for the Gators: Florida's next fall competition will be in two weeks when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in another two day event at the IU Fall Invitational at the Crooked Stick course on Oct.14 – 15.
