Florida Women's Golf Tied for Sixth After First Round of the Tar Heel Invitational

The University of Florida women's golf team overcame adversity in Round 1 of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina on Friday. Despite playing with only four golfers, as a team, Florida finished the first day of competition tied with Vanderbilt for sixth place with a +5 (293) team total. South Carolina leads the 18-team field by one stroke at the UNC Finley Golf Course over Wake Forest and Duke.
Gator freshman Taylor Tomlinson shined in the opening round of her second collegiate tournament, scoring three-straight birdies on the front nine to finish the day with an even-par score of 72 and in a tie for 16th place.
UF will hit the links on Saturday for Round 2 of competition, when play on the par-72 course begins at 9 a.m.
