Tomlinson and Donegan Finish in Top 10 at Valspar Invitational at the Floridian

For the first time since the 2013 NCAA South Regionals, two Gators finished in the top 10 of the pack to wrap up the final round of play at the Valspar Invitational at the Floridian on Tuesday.
Shooting in the 60's yesterday, sophomore Richard Donegan and junior J.D. Tomlinson carded a 72 and 74, respectively, in today's third round to hold steady towards the top of the leaderboard.
Donegan's outing was his best performance while donning the Orange and Blue, firing a final score of 210 to beat his previous best by 11 strokes and claim his first top-10 of the year. Tomlinson shot 4-under with a final event score of 209 for his second under-par tournament of the spring and his fourth top-10 placing of the season.
The rest of the five-man Gator lineup didn't fare as well, as the final three finished outside the top-40 of competition. As a team, Florida finished with a final score of 868 to take 14th place.
Buddy's Bite: “Unfortunately, another poor finish. However, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. JD and Richard had top-10s and I can't remember the last time we had two guys in the top-10. The problem this week was the back end of the line-up. Overall, we were a little more competitive as this was clearly the best field we have played against this year.”

Up Next for the Gators: Florida will wrap up the 2013-14 regular season at the Old Waverly Collegiate in West Point, Miss. from Apr. 7 – 8. This will be the final spring event for the Gators before they head to St. Simons Island for the SEC Championship.
