Florida Men’s Golf Uses Strong Final Round To Tie for Fifth at Tavistock Collegiate

The University of Florida men's golf team recorded the second-lowest round of the day to tie for fifth place at the Tavistock Collegiate and place three Gators in the top 20 on Tuesday.
Florida shot a 2-over 290 at the Isleworth Country Club in Round 3 to advance three spots on the leaderboard. The squad finished with a tournament total of +18 (882).
Junior Ryan Orr recorded an even-par 72 to wrap up the three-day event at +3 (219) and tie for 13th. Sophomore Alejandro Tosti's 4-over 76 landed him in a tie for 16th with a total of 4-over 220.
Freshman Jorge Garcia had UF's lowest round Tuesday, shooting a 1-under 71. He finished tied for 20th with a total of +5 (221).
Freshman Sam Horsfield carded a 1-over 73, including a stretch in which he picked up five birdies in seven holes. He finished the tournament with an 8-over 224. Freshman Kyler Tate finished with a total of +12 (228) after posting a +2 (74) in Round 3.
Illinois captured the team title with a +1 (865), while Arizona State's Jon Rahm took the individual title with a -6 (210).
Florida has less than a week before it returns to the course for its final fall tournament. The Gators will compete in the FGCU Classic in Naples, Fla., on Sunday and Monday.

“We played really well again today, but a couple of shots slipped down the stretch that I think the guys would want to have back. Overall, we played really well and are moving in the right direction.”
On Jorge Garcia's third round:
“He kind of had an up-and-down round day today, a lot of bogeys and stuff like that, but his attitude is awesome. It's everything we're looking for in the guys. He hangs tough and made a couple of birdies coming in and really, really helped the team, so I'm happy for him. ”
