PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Senior Kourtney Keegan posted one of the biggest wins of her career on Thursday, when she upset the nation's No. 2-ranked player in the opening round of the 2016 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Keegan defeated Pepperdine's Luisa Stefani, 6-3, 6-3, and advanced to the round of 16 at the national event. Not to be overshadowed, however, was the impressive win also posted by senior Belinda Woolcock, who defeated Syracuse's Anna Shkudun, 6-1, 6-1, in her first match of the tournament.

Keegan next plays UNLV's Carol Yang on Friday at 1:45p.m. ET/10:45 a.m. PT, while Woolcock, the No. 6 seed in the event, meets South Carolina's Ingrid Gamarra Martins at the same time. Two rounds of main draw singles are schedule to be played Friday.

Anna Danilina who reached the main draw after winning three rounds of qualifying, fell to Pepperdine's Mayar Sherif Ahmed, 6-4, 6-2. Danlilna will continue singles action in the backdraw, where she will play N.C. State's Martina Frantova on Friday.

Doubling Their Fun:

Brooke Austin and Kourtney Keegan are the No. 2 seed in the event and received a first-round bye before defeating Syracuse's Knutson and Salazar, 8-6. The Gator pair will play Southern California's Katz and Smith on Friday at 12 Noon ET/9 am PT.
UF's Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock dropped their opening-round match to Auburn's No. 27-ranked Alizee Michaud and Taylor Russo, 8-7 (5). They will get to continue play in the backdraw on Friday against South Carolina's Berg and Cline.

Main draw singles semifinalists, main draw doubles finalists and main draw consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 3-6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
