Gators Five Strokes Off Lead at Women’s Golf Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Gator women's golf team improved to third place in the team standings after Round 2 of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, in Palos Verdes, Calif. The No. 12 Gators carded a second-round team score of +7 (291) to bring their 36-hole total to +10 (578), just five strokes shy of the 16-team field co-leaders No. 11 Alabama and No. 15 Washington at +5 (573).
Day two of the 54-hole event saw juniors Karolina Vlckova and Maria Torres show off their consistency and move up the leaderboard. Vlckova birdied hole 18 to card +1 (72) for the second straight round, and move into a tie for seventh. With a pair of birdies on the back nine, Torres finished the second round with the Gators' lowest score of the day, an even-par 71. Torres enters Tuesday's final round tied with freshman Sam Wagner for 15th at the par-71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Lakareber Abe from Alabama is alone atop the individual leaderboard at -3 (139).
