Florida Women’s Golf To Host SunTrust Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 9 Gator women's golf team will play host to 13 teams in Gainesville, Fla., on March 5-6, for the annual SunTrust Gator Invitational. The two-day tournament at the par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course features three of Golfweek's top-25 teams.
During the Gators' last event on the links, head coach Emily Glaser's squad won its third team title of the season against a challenging 17-team field at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La. Entering the Gator Invitational, junior Maria Torres owns the lowest scoring average on the team of 72.2.
At their 2015 home event, the Gators finished as the runner-up with a 54-hole score of 889, 10 strokes behind Arizona. Then-sophomore Karolina Vlckova also finished as the runner-up, narrowly missing out on her first individual collegiate win by finishing one stroke behind Arizona's Manon Gidali.
Course Information: The tournament is being held at the par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course, in Gainesville, Fla.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds, 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
Tee Times:
Saturday Rd. 1 – 8:15 a.m. Shotgun start
Saturday Rd. 2 – Continuous play
Sunday Rd. 3 – 8:15 a.m. Shotgun start
The Gators' Lineup:
Junior Karolina Vlckova (Unhošt, Czech Republic): At the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, she recorded a collegiate-best 4-under (212) to finish tied for third, her fourth top-10 finish of the season.
Junior Maria Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico): At the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, she carded her third under-par tournament score this season with a -1 (215) to finish tied for 11th.
Sophomore Taylor Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.): The sophomore posted her sixth top-25 finish this season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, as she tied for 15th.
Junior Kelly Grassel (Chesterton, Ind.): Used a season-best 69 in Round 2 of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate to finish tied for 21st at +3 (219).
Freshman Sam Wagner (Windermere, Fla.): The freshman will compete at her first SunTrust Gator Invitational, she has competed in the Gators' lineup at every event this season and boasts a scoring average of 73.65.
