Gators Are Back In Action at the NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Florida's women's golf team will begin play at the NCAA Columbus Regional Championship on Monday. The Gators enter the three-day event (Monday-Wednesday) as the No. 1 seed.
The top six teams and three individuals from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championships on May 19-24 in Sugar Grove, Ill. at Rich Harvest Farms.
At the 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional, the Orange and Blue took home a share of the title to advance to the NCAA Championship. The Gators posted a program-record 11-under (277) on the final day to secure the victory.
Individually, Karolina Vlckova finished in second place at six-under (210). She carded a program-record seven-under (65) in the final round. Maria Torres also finished in the top-10 in seventh place at one-under (215).
The Gators are coming off a win at the Southeastern Conference Championship, where they broke the team tournament total by six shots with a 22-under (842).
Kelly Grassel finished in third place, tying the lowest round in event history with a career-best seven-under (65) in Sunday's final round.
Course Information: The tournament is being held at the Par 72, 6,416 yards Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over three days.
Tee Times:
Monday Rd. 1 – 9 a.m.
Tuesday Rd. 2 – 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday Rd. 3 – 7:30 a.m.
The Gators' Lineup:
Senior Kelly Grassel (Chesterton, Ind.): Finished in third place at the SEC Championship as she carded eight birdies in the final round.
Senior Maria Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico): Leads the team in top-ten finishes, with her most recent coming at the SEC Championship where she placed fourth.
Junior Taylor Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.): Finished in a tie for seventh (four-under, 212) at the SEC Championship.
Senior Karolina Vlckova (Unhošt, Czech Republic): Carded a three-under (213) at the SEC Championship to finish in a tie for 13th.
Freshman Marta Perez (Valencia, Spain): Finished in a tie for 42nd at the SEC Championship at eight-over (224).

"I thought we had great preparation today in the practice round. This golf course requires tremendous patience and this week comes down to being tough. So those are our goals for this week. I know the team is anxious to get going and we excited to tee it up tomorrow."
