Gators Improve to Finish Sixth in Nike Collegiate Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Florida Gators men's golf team finished the weekend in sixth place at the Nike Collegiate Invitational after moving up two spots in the final round.
Freshman Eugene Hong had his best finish of the season so far and was the top finisher for the Gators, coming at T15 and shooting one-over on the weekend. Sophomore John Axelsen was behind him, shooting his best round on the final day and finishing T23.
Freshman Aden Ye, redshirt freshman Manny Girona, and senior Gordon Neale finished behind the pack, shooting over par in each of their rounds. Neale made the biggest jump of the group, recovering from his first round and moving up the leaderboard 12 spots before the conclusion of the tournament.

"We all want to thank Cricket Musch and his entire team at Nike Golf for the incredible hospitality this week. Colonial Country Club is a very special place and we are grateful we had the chance to play it under Championship conditions. The rough was long and the fairways were tight.
Our guys showed toughness this week and battled for every shot. We haven't had our best stuff yet, but we are getting so much better. I have a lot of belief in our young guys and can't wait to watch this team improve. If they keep working like they have been the last month, this success we are seeing will continue at an even higher level." - Head Coach JC Deacon
