
Gators move into third on day two of NCAA Regionals

Taylor Tomlinson, Elin Esborn and Marta Perez card under-par rounds as Florida moves up three spots
AUSTIN, Texas – The Gators climbed up the leaderboard on the second day of the NCAA Regionals to put themselves in position to advance.
With the help a three players shooting under-par rounds, Florida leaped Michigan State, Baylor and Virginia Tech. The Gators sit alone in third place at 2-over for the tournament through 36 holes.
They carded a second round total of 287 (-1) which was four shots better than day one which was one of just five sub-par rounds on the course Tuesday.
Senior Taylor Tomlinson recorded the lowest round of any Gator this week with a bogey-free 69 (-3). She was 1-under entering the final two holes but, finished her round with birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to help Florida make a late charge up the leaderboard. It helped her move up 31 spots on the individual leaderboard as she enters the final round tied for 16th.
Sophomore Marta Perez also converted some key birdie opportunities down the stretch. Like Tomlinson, she would sink her putts on the final two holes to finish off her 71 (-1) round.
Redshirt freshman Elin Esborn was the third player to record an under-par round. Esborn birdied the par-5 5th and the par-4 10th. She pared the remaining 16 holes to cap off her bogey-free 70 (-2).
Esborn joins Tomlinson in the top 25 on the leaderboard as she is tied for 22nd entering the third round.
Florida will be paired up with Arkansas and Texas in the final pairing. Sierra Brooks will be the first Florida player to tee off at 10:50 a.m. (ET) off of hole No. 1.
