Charting The Gators: A Decade of Dominance

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- On a cool and windy late morning, the Pepsi Florida Relays opened today at Percy Beard Track.
The UF men's team, fresh off a NCAA indoor national championship, treks deeper into the outdoor season at one of the state's largest track events of the year. Athletes from around campus and the world, in college and high school, as well as former Olympians will compete in the three-day meet.
The Florida men are likely to qualify several members for the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary as they gear up for a potential run toward a fifth outdoor national title this decade.
The Gators claimed their fifth indoor national title of the decade – and second consecutive – March 9 in Birmingham, Ala. The UF men's run of success under the direction of head coach Mike Holloway qualifies as a dynasty in the world of college athletics.
Holloway has built a stable foundation, recruited at the highest level and his teams have often been at their best on the biggest stage since he took over 16 years ago.
"We walk in knowing if we do our jobs, we have a chance,'' Holloway said shortly after the Gators returned home from the NCAA Indoor Championships.
How good has the UF men's team been over the past decade?
Here is a look at the only programs since the start of the 2009-10 college athletics season with five national championships:
