
Florida Hits the Road for NCAA Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women's golf team is on their final stop of the post season, playing the NCAA Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This is the fourth consecutive year the Gators have advanced to the Championships.
Florida finished regional play in Norman, Oklahoma, in a tie for second with Wake Forest. Texas, the regional No. 1 seed, won by nine strokes. The Gators had three players finish inside the top 15. Sophomore Elin Esborn led the way, carding even or under-par rounds each day to finish three-under for the weekend and tied for fifth. Junior Sierra Brooks finished one stroke behind Esborn in a tie for eighth. Junior Marta Perez was one stroke behind Brooks, coming in 14th.
This will be freshman Clara Manzalini's first championship experience, as the rest of the Florida squad returns from last year's Championships where the Gators finished 21st.
Course Information: The Championships will be played at the par 73, 6,473 yard Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, hosted by the University of Arkansas. From the back tees, its rating is 79.1 and its slope is 153, making it one of the toughest golf courses in the U.S.
Format: There will be three rounds of stroke play Friday-Sunday. The top 15 teams will advance to the final round of stroke play on Monday. The top eight teams will then advance to the match play quarterfinals on Tuesday, followed by the semifinals. The Championship match will be played Wednesday afternoon. Portions of all match play days will air live on the Golf Channel.
