Ormsby Impresses at FSU Winter XC Classic

Gators freshman led the way for both teams with a strong performance
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida's Stephanie Ormsby placed 21st at the FSU Winter XC Classic in the women's 6,000-meter (6k) race on Friday in Tallahassee as the Gators cross country team competed for the first time since Oct. 30 of 2020 at the Southeastern Conference Championships.
Overall, the women's team finished in 15th and the men's team finished in 20th.
Ormsby was a bright spot for UF, running a 20:44.9, as the freshman held her own in a pack of strong upperclassmen runners and finished third among all freshmen in the 6k.
Imogen Barrett (41st, 21:13.9), Parker Valby (72nd, 21:50.9), Emily Culley (95th, 22:11.3) and Payton Capes-Davis (101st, 22:20.6) rounded out Florida's top-five runners on the women's side.
On the men's side, Trevor Foley led the way for the Gators in the men's 8k with a time of 24:34.0 which was good for a 58th-place finish.
Stanford won the men's race while Colorado won the women's race.
UF is scheduled to return to action on March 5th back in Tallahassee at the FSU Winter XC Last Chance Meet.
