The true freshman earned his second award of the season after his first place finish at the Pre-National Invitational.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kelvin Cheruiyot has been named the SEC Men's Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Cheruiyot becomes the first Gator to earn the honor since 2015, when redshirt senior Eddie Garcia last claimed the title. This marks Cheruiyot's second SEC weekly honor of the season, following his Freshman of the Week recognition on Sept. 30.
At the Pre-National Invitational, the true freshman recorded a winning time of 22:44.6, securing first place overall. In just his second NCAA race, Cheruiyot's performance helped lead the Gators to a top-ten team finish.
The Florida Gator has now become the first freshman in the 2025 season to earn the award.
