
Timini Goes Undefeated at Holmes Cathrall Memorial Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two Gators close out their second tournament of the fall season in dominant fashion at the Holmes Cathrall Memorial Invitational.
Senior Tanapatt Nirundorn and freshman Andreas Timini walked away from the doubles portion of the tournament undefeated with a 4-0 record. Nirundorn and Timini faced opponents from Cornell, Penn State, Columbia and Buffalo to ensure that they see competition from each of the different schools present for the event.
In the singles portion of the tournament, Timini remained undefeated with the wins over athletes from Navy, Columbia and Penn State earning a 3-0 record for the weekend. In his singles run, Timini only dropped one set in his final match against Michael Wright from Penn State. Nirundorn went 1-1 for singles, with his loss coming from a three set match against Renthin Pranav Senthil Kumar of Cornell.

The Gators host the ITA Southeast Regional Championship and welcomes athletes from schools across the states of Florida and Georgia to compete in the tournament. The ITA Southeast Regionals will act as another opportunities for athletes to earn automatic bids into NCAAs for November. Florida already has the doubles pair of Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson to compete in NCAAs after their run to the semifinals in the ITA All-American Championship. The tournament will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and will end on Sunday, Oct. 13.
